Handmade Headband

So, my youngest niece has turned eleven and I am going to send her this headband as a gift:

I got the idea from Sew Hip Mama, but decided to just make one flower instead of three. I also made the headband by sewing up a strip of, I think, lycra. It was in my stash, so I'm not exactly sure what the fabric is, but it was where all the dancer fabric is at JoAnn's.

I really like this idea of creating flowers. Reminds me of the shirt I repurposed. This method with wrapping strips around a pipe cleaner could be used just about anywhere. A necklace, bracelet, or broach would work well. And it's a great way to use up your scrap fabric.
